Now, she comes back home from school wearing the same clothes that she was wearing when we sent her to school.
The same clothes she left in
Fiona was 6 when she started outgrowing the biggest baby diapers we could find. So I started looking for the next step. Not baby diapers, not adult ones, something in between.
Most of what's out there for bigger kids is pull-on. Fiona can't stand or support her weight, so she can't step into one. She needed tabs. And the pull-ons we tried were made for potty training, so they didn't hold up. We still had leaks.
The adult options were massive. I'd hold the diaper she was wearing next to the smallest adult one, and you could have fit two of her in it.
When she came home from school in one of those bigger diapers, you could see it through her clothes. She has nothing to be ashamed of. But I wanted her to get to feel like a regular kid, and she'd already been teased once by a kid who found out.
I reached out to the big diaper brands and asked for bigger sizes. I reached out to creators who work with kids' brands and asked them to help. Nobody wrote back.
All that searching finally put a Youth Crews ad in front of me. They're soft and thin, and they still absorb. Now she usually comes home from school in the same clothes she left in. She used to go through three outfits a day. I don't have those extra loads of laundry anymore.
And it matters that the people behind it are parents who get it. They answer, they help, and they take care of us.
